Only halfway through 2014, some 144 homes have already sold at Anthem, the 1,750-acre master planned community at the crossroads of new 470 Northwest Parkway and Broomfield’s Lowell Boulevard. That’s a pace that would more than double Anthem’s sales for all of year 2013.
“People talk about being an overnight success, but the truth is it takes a lot of work, and that’s exactly what we’ve done in Anthem,” says Jeff Handlin, operating partner for Wheelock Communities, which took over Anthem in 2011. Handlin and his team created new neighborhoods and brought in four new builders – and now have a community that stands apart not just for how fast it sells, but for how broad the appeal is – older and younger, spending for single-family homes that span from the $300s up to $1 million.
