Many of you have heard of the Swedish furniture store, IKEA. Many of you may not know that when a new store opens — it’s something to talk about! So, eighteen months ago, when the retail giant announced they would be opening their second largest store in Centennial, Colorado; CCMC lifestyle director Debra Wyatte knew their grand opening would be THE place to be! She starting planning something BIG for her residents at Anthem Highlands (Broomfield, CO). The result? Twelve hours of IKEA madness, CCMC-style! The fun centered around a family camp out in the new store’s parking lot (just one hour south of the Anthem Highlands community). The CCMC lifestyle team created a mini Anthem Highlands. The set-up was intended to make residents feel like VIPs while waiting in line to enter the new store. Activities were scheduled throughout the evening, including hand massages, trivia contests, games, s’mores and more! Community partners like Full Service Vending, Larkridge Family Dentistry and Winchell’s provided refreshments. The local news was on the scene, interviewing residents about their experience and motivation for waiting in line. Residents all received IKEA gift cards, ranging from $10-100.
